PARENTHOOD!

    COUNSELLING

Responsible Parenthood and 15 principles of Responsible Parenting!!!

A responsible parenthood is simply defined as the "will" and ability of parents to respect and do the needs and aspirations of the family and children. It is the ability of a parent to detect the need, happiness and desire of the children and helping them to become responsible and reasonable children

Basic concepts

  1. The size of a family should be decided by both parents together, based on their available resources and the standard of living they wish to achieve.
  2. Even though young people may be physically able to become parents at a very early age, being a responsible parent means waiting until the health of the mother will not be endangered by pregnancy and until both parents are emotionally mature and able to deal with the needs of a family.
  3. By waiting to get married and have children, young people can give themselves more time to pursue the things that can help to make them better partners and parents - education, employment, personal maturity, self-confidence, etc.
  4. Spacing the birth of children helps to protect the health of the mother and allows both parents more time to give each child the attention and affection he or she need

Counselling falls under the umbrella term 'talking therapies' and allows people to discuss their problems and any difficult feelings they encounter in a safe, confidential environment. The term can mean different things to different people, but in general it is a process people seek when they want to change something in their lives, or simply explore their thoughts and feelings in more depth. A counsellor is not there to sit you down and tell you what to do. Instead, they will encourage you to talk about what's bothering you in order to uncover any root causes and identify your specific ways of thinking. The counsellor may then look to create a plan of action to either help you reconcile your issues, or help you to find ways of coping. Counselling does not come in a cookie-cutter format and each session is generally tailored to the individual. There is flexibility within this type of therapy that allows for a variety of counselling formats, including:
